New Life is a family. We like each other. We are friends and disciples. The Scriptures tell us that the Church is a body, each of us a part of it, sharing our gifts to help one another grow in faith, maturity, and a joy filled life. We aren't perfect, but our Lord is. Our Lord is forgiving, and we try our best to be.
God has revealed Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit to His creation in seeking to restore a broken and hurting world to His love, grace and mercy.
The Scriptures are God breathed and inspired, without error in the original texts, and reliable guidance for living, growing and experiencing the abundant life God intends for His children.
Jesus Christ is God in human flesh, who while divine, lived perfectly in the power of the Holy Spirit so that creation might be redeemed through His life offered to restore the broken relationship with the Father.
Holy Spirit is given to the Body of Christ and to the individual believer to know truth, to bear fruit and be a people of character, and to provide the gifts necessary for the work of restoration that Jesus has given to His people.
It is God's desire that none should be lost. His love is vast and generous for all people, and He invites all people to turn to Him through the saving work of Jesus Christ. In His mercy and grace, though, God allows the freedom of the individual to live in rebellion of God's plans for their lives and to reject the amazing gift of New Life offered through Jesus Christ.
Jesus was handed the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written, "God's Spirit is on me; he's chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor, Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, To set the burdened and battered free, to announce, "This is God's year to act!"
He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the assistant, and sat down. Every eye in the place was on him, intent. Then he started in, "You've just heard Scripture make history. It came true just now in this place." Luke 4:17-21 (MSG)
This was Jesus' job description, His mission statement. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to continue to His work in the world until He comes again. His work was completed on the cross and in the resurrection. He has called us to keep His work going so all can know His love.
